We cordially extend an invitation to you to join us for the the presentation “Holograms Delivering Sign Language” by Prsonas’ Chief Executive Officer, David Rose at the 22nd Biennial Conference of Telecommunications for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Inc. on Thursday, July 27, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.  The Conference takes place at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center, 5701 Marinelli Road North Bethesda, MD 20852.  The White Flint Metro Station is across from the hotel.  Mr. Rose will give the presentation in the Salon D room which is on the main level of the Conference Center.

It’s a great opportunity to see Mr. Rose give the presentation on the research and development for holograms in sign language, that will hopefully benefit us in places of public accommodation.  It is also inevitable that interpreters will work with us from remote locations via holograms.  If we see interpreters as beamed from another location and in full size as if they are in person, it will help us in certain situations like hospitals, when it is sometimes not effective, appropriate nor safe to use Video Remote Interpreting (VRI).  It is truly amazing that some things we saw from watching the old Star Trek TV programs some years ago are not that far-fetched today!

Other applications from this technology can be arranged such as in public transit, announcing which station we are stopping at, and it can be used to send us emergency information broadcasts.  This technology is not yet perfect, in that Mr. Rose will tell us that there is a mismatch of sign vs facial expression.  He will assure us that it is still easy to understand, and as with any other new, emerging technologies, we will have the opportunity to offer feedback to Prsonas, and to support its efforts as a work-in-progress.

Consumer advocates will be delighted to hear about this innovative mode of accommodation in sign language.  When this is fully deployed across America, we stand to benefit from getting information simultaneously along with our hearing relatives and friends anywhere, anytime.  A good number of interpreters, and executives of interpreting referral agencies will be interested to hear Mr. Rose speak.  Also, we have officials from Federal Communications Commission, and also, some players from the telecommunications relay service industry who will benefit from hearing him speak.  Prsonas’ work can create some possible impact on the future of relay services – technology and policy wise.

If you are interested to learn more about Prsonas, and to attend Mr. Rose’s presentation, here are the quick blog and video: http://prsonas.com/holograms-delivering-sign-language/
