What TDI Does with your Personal Information

Telecommunications for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Inc. (TDI) is committed to protecting your privacy. The following explains what information we collect about you, how we use it, and what choices you have regarding this information. This policy, as part of TDI’s Terms of Use, applies to all information collected from or submitted to tdiforaccess.org, tdiconf.com, tdibluebook.com, or to TDI employees or contractors.

In general, you can browse our websites without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. As with many websites, our sites automatically recognize your domain name, IP address, browser version, operating system, and the referring site you passed through to reach our site.  These do not specifically identify you. This information may be used for website traffic analysis and is treated confidentially.

You must, for example, provide such information whenever you join as a member of TDI; sign up for our email newsletter (eNote) or to be included in The Blue Book; register for, or sponsor, an event; or sign up to participate in a TDI event, such as exhibiting or leasing a meeting room.

Information we collect is used to manage our operations, serve our members, improve the content of our websites, and to provide you with any information you’ve requested. We also compile and use this information so that we may keep you apprised of TDI events, news, and ongoing work. For example, we use contact information we have gathered to respond to inquiries, provide information about TDI events and services, and provide information about important public policy issues.

We may use third parties (contractors) to process your information on our behalf. For example, we work with other companies to assist in certain aspects of our operations, such as assistance with event sign-up and fulfillment and the processing of credit card transactions for events or donations.   • When you have provided us the information to share with other TDI members or TDI event participants.
  • When you have provided us the information for publication purposes, such as in the TDI Conference Schedule or The TDI Blue Book.

  • When we believe that such disclosure is necessary to protect public or individual safety.

Children’s Privacy

TDI websites are general audience sites. We do not knowingly or intentionally collect or maintain personally identifiable information from children under the age of eighteen and no part of our websites are targeted to attract anyone under the age of thirteen. If we become aware that we have collected personally identifiable information from a user of the websites who is under the age of thirteen, we will remove that child’s personal information from our records.
