TDI World Archives
TDI has published a quarterly magazine since 1970. For many years it was titled “The GA-SK News Magazine.” This appropriately reflected the fact that people with hearing loss used abbreviations like “GA” (Go Ahead) and “SK” (Stop Keying) during telephone conversations using TTYs.
Eventually TTYs became telecommunication “dinosaurs,” as a variety of new telecommunication technologies became available to deaf and hard of hearing people, such as smartphones, captioned telephones (CapTel) and videophones. The name of the TDI magazine was then changed in 2007 to TDI World.
