TDI 2019 Conference – Call for Papers

TDI is accepting proposals for presentations, forums, workshops, and discussions at its 2019 Biennial Conference. The 23rd conference will be at Gallaudet University in the Kellogg Conference and Hotel on August 15-17 in Washington, D.C., The theme for this 2019 event is “With Access, Everyone Wins!”

TDI 23rd Biennial Conference 2019 - Call for Papers

The conference addresses equal access solutions in technology, information technologies, and media. Authors submitting papers will choose from two tracks: Technology and Security, or Industry and Consumer Interests. If the paper does not fit either topic area, there will be an “other” option. Submit papers electronically at: Papers must be submitted no later than April 15, 2019.

Track 1: Technology and Security – focuses on how technology can be both a benefit and a risk. Workshops in this track will address the specific needs of TDI’s consumer niche in ensuring access in technological and security developments. Possible topic areas for consideration include:

  • IOT Devices and Data Privacy
  • Autonomous Vehicles
  • Direct Video Communications
  • Designing Accessible Apps
  • Emergency Access

Track 2: Industry and Consumer Interests – empathizes how advocacy and technology intersect in providing opportunities to both industry and consumers, with specific focus on telecommunications, media, and information technology. Topic areas to include, but not limited to:

  • Best Practices using Social Media
  • Gaming or Virtual Reality Accessible Technology
  • Impact of Technology for D/HH in Education and Employment
  • Understanding and Applying Universal Design
  • Telecommunication Relay Service for DeafBlind
  • Captioning in Movie Theaters
  • New Products, Services, and Assistive Devices / Apps

Important Dates:
– Proposal Submission Deadline: April 15, 2019
– Acceptance Notification: May 15, 2019
– Final Paper Deadline: July 15, 2019
